High School Partnership Programs
The University of New Haven has partnered with select high schools to give students the opportunity to get a jumpstart on their college careers.
Ansonia High School Pre-College
Open to Ansonia High School
This program offers motivated Ansonia High School seniors a jumpstart on their college career. Eligible students will take one college course on the University of New Haven campus with University faculty and staff. Tuition cost is covered by the University, however students are required to cover costs of textbooks, lab and technology fees for their respective course, as well as any transportation to the campus.

Charging Ahead Program (CAP)
Open to West Haven High School & Notre Dame High School – West Haven
The West Haven High School and Notre Dame High School – West Haven partnership program offers motivated juniors and seniors a jumpstart on their college career. Students who are selected for this program will take one college course on the University of New Haven campus with University faculty and staff. Tuition cost is covered by the University, however students are required to cover costs of textbooks, lab and technology fees for their respective course, as well as any transportation to the campus.
Students interested in taking part in the Charging Ahead Program must be nominated by their school counselors. Applications and teacher recommendation forms will be reviewed by the University of New Haven Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff. Applicants are required to participate in a one-on-one interview. Students interested in applying to the program must have a minimum high school GPA of a 3.0 and a 1000 SAT/PSAT.
Criminal Justice Cohort
Open to James Hillhouse High School & West Haven High School
The Criminal Justice Cohort offers a select group of motivated students the opportunity to begin exploring and pursue a pathway of courses in preparation to pursue an undergraduate degree in criminal justice at the University of New Haven. This opportunity includes two college courses taught at the high school during the fall and spring semesters of junior year, with eligible students continuing on to two additional courses taught on the University of New Haven campus during the fall and spring semesters of senior year; at the onset of the senior-year courses, students are charged $1,000 for the entire four-course program. In addition to the tuition cost, students are required to cover costs of textbooks, lab and technology fees, well as any transportation to the campus during the senior-year courses.
Students interested in taking part in the Criminal Justice Cohort must be identified by their ISSP coordinator (identification is encouraged by the end of sophomore year to ensure proper junior-year course scheduling). Applications will be reviewed by the University of New Haven Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff and are required prior to the junior-year courses and again prior to the senior-year courses. Students continuing through the senior-year courses must have achieved a B average in the junior-year courses and hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.

The Engineering and Science University Magnet School (ESUMS) at New Haven was established in 2008. It was created with a very special purpose: to educate and train the next generation of engineers, scientists, and leaders.
