Veteran Business Executive Joins University of New Haven to Oversee Student Recruitment in India

During her nearly 30-year career with two of India's leading global IT services companies, Ranjana Maitra '91 MBA has created niche solutions and headed business units catering to some of the world's largest and most successful medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

Ranjana Maitra '91 MBA, an accomplished international executive with decades of experience working in the healthcare and life sciences industries, has joined the University of New Haven to oversee the University's undergraduate and graduate recruitment efforts in India as the country head. She is based in Mumbai.

"Ranjana is one of the most successful graduates of the University's distinguished MBA program," said Greg Eichhorn, vice president of operations and student success. "She has a proven track record of building successful business relationships, developing diverse teams, and delivering business results that consistently exceed even the most challenging goals. We are grateful to have her as the face of the University in India, where I expect she will be very successful in attracting talented students to join our community."

For the past eight years, Maitra was the global head of life sciences and head of presales and solutions for the business process services (BPS) arm for Wipro Ltd, a global leader in consulting, technology, and business-process services with more than 170,000 employees. During her tenure, she demonstrated a history of objectively defining and delivering business targets and meeting expectations by engaging with clients -- including eight of the top 10 global medical device companies, four top global pharmaceutical companies, and Fortune 50 payers, among others across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and stakeholders globally across levels.

She has the distinction of setting up business units and global centers of delivery excellence across 12 delivery centers around the world, as well as turning around acquired businesses while integrating them and enabling them to deliver value and growth. Previously, she was the chief operating officer for Winpro Healthcare IT, a subsidiary of Winpro Ltd.

She also spent more than a decade in leadership roles at Tata Consultancy Services, the second largest Indian company by market capitalization, which she joined after earning her MBA, with a concentration in marketing from the University of New Haven.

"I had a wonderful and enriching experience pursing my MBA at the University of New Haven, said Ranjana. "It completely widened my horizons, and the learning was immense. Meeting so many diverse international students and interacting with American students created so many memories, and I made friends for life. My time at the University of New Haven played a significant role in my success in the corporate world. I am excited to have the opportunity to join the University to help ensure students from India have the same rewarding experiences I had."

As the University prepares to celebrate its Centennial in 2020, it is endeavoring to expand its global reach and impact. The University currently has students who hail from some 59 countries.
