In the University's profile, students said their classmates are hard-working and engaged in campus life and that their professors are "amazing."
The University of New Haven was named one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education by The Princeton Review in its 2018 "The Best 382 Colleges" guidebook.
Additionally, the University was ranked #17 on the publication's list of "Best Career Services," joining institutions such as Clemson, Bentley, Northeastern, and Emerson.
It is the second year in a row the University is featured in the well-respected guidebook that serves as a go-to resource for students, families, and high school guidance counselors. It is also the fourth year in a row The Princeton Review highlighted the University in its publication.
Only about 15 percent of America's 2,500 four-year colleges and two colleges outside the U.S. are profiled in the book, which is one of The Princeton Review's most popular guides. Published annually since 1992, it has detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores in eight categories.
The book also has ranking lists of top 20 schools in 62 categories, including career services. All of the ranking lists are based on The Princeton Review's surveys of students attending the colleges.
"We chose the University of New Haven for this book because it offers outstanding academics," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review's Editor-in-Chief and author of "The Best 382 Colleges." "Our selections are primarily based on our surveys of administrators at several hundred four-year colleges. We also visit dozens of colleges each year and give considerable weight to opinions of our staff and our 24-member National College Counselor Advisory Board, Most importantly, we look at valuable feedback we get from each school's customers – our surveys of students attending them. We also keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity and character."
Being recognized by The Princeton Review is a clear endorsement of our students-first philosophy and the innovative learning opportunities we have provided for generations of students. It is most gratifying to be acknowledged for the transformational impact that a University of New Haven education has on our students' lives.
– President Steve Kaplan
In The Princeton Review profile of the University, students say "every student is involved in some way on campus" and "loves being there." Students also said the University has "a refreshingly diverse campus" and that everyone is "friendly and has a positive and welcoming attitude."
According to the Princeton Review, University of New Haven students indicated their classmates "know what it is they want, and they are going for it" and "care about the quality of their education and want to participate in extracurricular." Students also lauded the "down-to-earth" professors, saying they are "amazing and want to help in any way they can."
