"Hands-On Learning At Engineering Camp In New Haven" At UNH's "engineering camp,"
25 high school students from across Connecticut worked in teams to build prototypes
of helicopter wings, wind turbines and space vehicles. The process is essential to
an engineer's work, UNH Engineering Professor Maria-Isabel Carnasciali said. "What
they're learning is to prototype something, see how it works and make it better. It
gets them to understand things don't always work the first time. That's what real
life engineering is all about."

for fans' safety at baseball games could change MLB's 100-year-old "limited duty rule,"
known as the Baseball Rule, which means teams have the duty to warn but not protect
fans from flying objects. Gil Fried, member of UNH's sports management and business
faculty, argues that in the past 100 years, baseball has changed substantially, with
players able to hit the ball harder, fan seating moving in closer and in-game entertainment
distracting fans from the action.
