UNH graduate student Nicole Bois along with her adviser Brooke Kammrath studied the
differences between different brands and types of nail polish under the microscope.
They found that it is feasible to identify individual types of nail polish through
a variety of methods, Bois said. The research will be published in the next few months
and could have useful applications in criminal investigations. A small nail chip with
polish found at the scene of a crime could be linked back to the polish found at a
suspect’s residence.
