About Karen

Karen Redlich started her law career by clerking for Justice Stewart Pollock of the New Jersey Supreme Court, after which she joined the international law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, working in its New York City office. While at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, she specialized in antitrust litigation. After several years at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Karen moved in-house to AT&T. At AT&T, she specialized in antitrust law, obtaining approval of large telecommunication mergers from federal agencies, telecommunications regulation, and compliance with lobbying disclosure rules. Following a ten-year career at AT&T, Karen took several years off to raise her twins. She joined the University of New Haven in 2008 as an adjunct faculty and became a practitioner in residence in 2013. Karen teaches various Legal Studies courses, including Legal Research and Writing, Administrative Law and Legal Investigation. Karen's main academic interest is the area of regulation, in particular the role of regulation in addressing societal problems and the impact of politics on this process. She also thoroughly enjoys teaching Legal Research and Writing since it is such a fundamental building block for Legal Studies majors and minors. In addition to teaching, Karen is the faculty advisor to the First-Year student pre-law Living, Learning Community.

When not teaching, Karen is busy raising her daughters. She also enjoys knitting, tennis, serving on the Board of Directors of her temple, and going to the beach on Block Island. She is also looking forward to the arrival of a golden doodle puppy in fall 2014.
