LAS360 PATAGONIA IN LITERATURE: TRAVELERS, EXPLORERS & THE WRITING OF MYTH
You embark in this course on a literary exploration of the history, culture and mythologized creation of the region know as Patagonia, in Southern Argentina, through a critical reading of novels, historical documents and travel writing. Throughout the course, you will analyze cultural difference and explore the myths and realities of identity formation through travel narratives. Prerequisites: One 200 level course in Latin American studies or English literature. Language of Instruction: English. Credits: 3.

This course examines the history of the Dirty War in Argentina during the military dictatorship of 1976 to 1983 and chronicles the cultural resistance and collective memory it generated.
