ITA100 INTRODUCTION TO BEGINNING ITALIAN
This course is designed for students who have little or no prior knowledge of Italian. The primary aim of the course is to develop the four basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to interact with locals for simple daily communicative purposes and to write basic texts with some degree of competency. Prerequisites: None. ITA101 BEGINNING ITALIAN I
Students will be introduced to the basic grammatical structures of the Italian language and vocabulary based around everyday needs and topics of interest. The primary aim of the course is to develop the four basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. Credits: 3
ITA102 BEGINNING ITALIAN II
This course is designed to consolidate and develop the linguistic competence of students who have taken the equivalent of one semester of college level Italian, and to further develop the four basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. Prerequisite: Beginning Italian I or the equivalent of one semester of college-level Italian. Credits: 3
ITA103 BEGINNING ITALIAN I.
The primary aim of the course is to develop four basic Italian language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. ITA111 ITALIAN CONVERSATION I
The primary aim of the course is to develop basic Italian language speaking and listening skills through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. Prerequisites: None. ITA112 BEGINNING ITALIAN II.
The primary aim of the course is to develop four basic Italian language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. Prerequisites: At least the equivalent of one semester of college level Italian. Language of instruction: Italian. Credits: 4.
ITA201 INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN I
This course is designed to develop the linguistic competence of students, and to improve the four basic skills of reading, speaking, writing and understanding through a direct exposition to Italian language and culture. After reviewing basic grammar and vocabulary, students will proceed to complex grammar and communicative structures. Prerequisite: Beginning Italian II or the equivalent of two semesters of college-level Italian. Credits: 3
ITA202 INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN II
For students who have taken the equivalent of at least three semesters of college level Italian, with the aims of achieving greater fluency and use of more complex linguistic structures in both oral and written communication, and to build students' proficiency through a direct exposition to Italian language and culture. Prerequisite: Intermediate Italian I or the equivalent of three semesters of college-level Italian. Credits: 3
ITA203 INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN I.
This intermediate course aims at improving the four basic skills, reading, speaking, writing and understanding through a direct exposition to Italian language and culture. A review of basic grammar and vocabulary is followed by exposure to new and more complex grammar and communicative structures. Prerequisites: At least the equivalent of two semesters of college level Italian. Language of instruction: Italian. Credits: 4.
ITA204 INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN II.
This intermediate language course aims at building on your proficiency with the four basic skills (reading, speaking, writing and understanding) through a direct exposition to Italian language and culture. Prerequisites: Intermediate Italian I or the equivalent of at least three semesters of college level Italian. Language of instruction: Italian. Credits: 4.
ITA212 ITALIAN CONVERSATION II.
The primary aim of the course is to develop Italian language speaking and listening skills through a communicative, collaborative and cultural approach. Prerequisites: At least the equivalent of two semesters of college level Italian. Language of Instruction: Italian. Credits: 4
ITA301 ADVANCED ITALIAN
This course is designed for students who have mastered Italian grammatical structure and are ready to expand their language skills and achieve a mastery in the four basic skills, with particular emphasis on oral and written production (reports, movies, historical and literary texts, plots, expositions and data analyses) and attention to the textual type (narrativo, descrittivo, argomentativo). Prerequisite: Intermediate Italian II, or the equivalent of at least four semesters of college-level Italian. Credits: 3
ITA303 ADVANCED ITALIAN.
This course is designed for students who have mastered the grammatical structure of the language and are ready to expand and enlarge their language skills thus achieving a high degree in mastery in the four basic skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing). A particular emphasis will be put on oral and written production. Prerequisites: Intermediate Italian II or the equivalent of at least four semesters of college level Italian.
